As a performer, I so appreciate you and your band! What is your best advice for getting yourself out there? Something I start to feel a little discouraged, and having studied music and voice in college, I afraid to let it all slip away! My band and I play around town, but nothing is taking off!! HELP!
Ps, I love you guys. Cant wait to see you in NYC!
Hey Sarah! It's a tough nut to crack - you can't fail if you never quit! Try to surround yourself with people who are better than you so you learn from everything they can offer you. That and try to connect with bands that are a couple rungs higher on the ladder than you - not only to help get your name out of there, but for the chance to observe what they're doing off and offstage and how. I've bought a lot of coffees to people in bands for a chance to get a 15 minute conversation of tips on touring and connecting. Good luck!
Ok, I'm a little obsessed by the band right now. Saw you in San Luis, CA last month and plan on Santa Barbara in September. Playing's great and those songs - wow. It's just so good to see a band of real musicians out there doing it, with a singer who can rival Susan Tedeschi/Joan Osborne. Anyway, It'd be really cool if you could do "Dirt" at the Santa Barbara show. I guess that's not a question - just a request. Ok -- gushing over. See ya.Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds responded on 08/11/2016 Next question
Hi Sasha, you are screaming and singing with your guitar. What amp and effect pedals do you use in the band?Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds responded on 08/11/2016
